Eating Disorder Treatment and Body Image Concerns

At Mimind Psychology, we address eating disorders and body image concerns with compassion, recognizing that eating behaviors often emerge as coping mechanisms for emotional distress, trauma, shame, perfectionism, or struggles with self-worth and control. These experiences are understood not as failures but as meaningful responses that warrant care and understanding.

Our eating disorders treatment offers a supportive, non-judgmental environment to delve into the emotional, behavioral, and relational factors contributing to disordered eating patterns, including binge eating, bulimia, restrictive eating, emotional eating, chronic dieting, and body image distress.

The focus of treatment is on both eating behaviors and the underlying emotional experiences that perpetuate distress, such as perfectionism, self-criticism, shame, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, and patterns of avoidance or control.

We utilize various approaches, including CBT-E, EMDR, Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and trauma-informed interventions, to foster healthier relationships with food, body image, and self-worth. Our emotional eating therapy is collaborative, neuroaffirming, and tailored to individual readiness, emphasizing safety, dignity, and self-compassion.

The following disordered presentations are supported in our clinic:

- Anorexia Nervosa (including atypical presentation - AN)

- Bulimia Nervosa (BN)

- Binge Eating Disorder (BED)

- Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

- Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorder (OSFED)
